2013 Summer Seminar Information
CULTIVATING AWE AND WONDER IN THE HOME AND CLASSROOM
July 24-28, on the campus of the Santa Cruz Waldorf School
Education has become the great mystery. We test, disseminate information, require homework, and expend much effort to prepare our children to succeed in high school and college. Yet what is it that truly inspires? What deepens the imagination of children? How can we create enthusiasm inwardly so that they enter the world with optimism? Awe and wonder are the keys, the true preparation, that nourish our children and strengthen their resolve.
Participants in the 5th annual Live Education! Summer Seminar will explore this theme through morning presentations, artistic activities, and inner development conversations in the evenings. One-on-one planning sessions will be offered once again each afternoon, with a choice to focus on Waldorf curriculum, music, the arts, early childhood, or academic practice periods. Each of our master teachers has experience working both with homeschool parents and Waldorf class teachers.
We will enjoy community snacks and lunches each day, prepared with local, organic ingredients, and mostly gluten-free. Our Waldorf camp will be available to the children of participants aged 5-14; the camp includes meals and evening story.
